Yesterday felt like a homecoming.

After almost seven weeks of a horrible virus that forced me inward, the fog finally lifted four days ago and with it, something inside me began to reawaken.
I stepped out of my everyday rhythm and into a wonderland woven with friendship, presence, beauty and quiet sacredness.
I met my friend Janis at the Edinburgh Botanics, a soul-friendship of thirteen years, born on the 5Rhythms dance floor. Through movement, breath, and long walks in nature, we have grown together, witnessed one another, unravelled and re-woven our lives side by side.
We shared a long, delicious lunch, watching the fading winter light dissolve through huge glass windows and the silhouettes of bare winter trees. Our conversation danced as freely as our hearts, flowing from depth to laughter to revelation.
As dusk fell, we wandered outside. The cold reddened our cheeks, and as daylight slipped away, thousands of sparkling winter-wonderland lights emerged around us.
We looked at each other, wide-eyed, childlike and simply walked in awe. Two women enchanted, remembering the magic still alive in us and in the world.
Later we found ourselves on the dance floor again.
The room was dark, an altar of winter leaves, acorns and candles shaped like constellations glowing at the centre.
My bare feet touched the wooden floor, the same floor where I have prayed, cried, surrendered and celebrated for over a decade. This is my church.
The music began.
And instantly, I dropped deep inside…
to my still point…
to the place that feels like home.
My body moved softly, instinctively, guided from within.
At one moment Janis and I danced together, no words, just breath, presence, and the shared frequency of two souls who know how to be at one together.
Later, back at her little cottage, we sat by the log burner with a glass of wine, cheese, and the warm glow of a day well-lived.
Two friends, full to the brim with love, life, grace and gratitude.
In the morning, she swam in the loch.
We walked home through the fields in Winter hush, we dropped into a little church, drank hot cacao, pulled a magical oracle card, and shared a hearty breakfast before I returned home. Nourished,
expanded, alive.
Nature.
Friendship.
Creativity.
Spirituality.
Movement.
Silence.
Snow and bright blue skies.
City and countryside.
Food, wine and wonder.
My soul danced.
And I came home to myself again.
The Invitation …
As I drove home, one question kept rising within me:
When was the last time you allowed yourself a day like this?
A day out of your routine…
A day soaked in beauty…
A day shared with someone who sees your soul…
A day where you listen, truly listen to what your inner world is asking for?
We all need spaces like this.
We all need moments that reset us.
We all need friendships that feel like prayer.
We all need wonder.
So perhaps, as Winter settles around us, you might offer yourself a small version of this:
a long lunch with someone who lifts your spirit
a silent walk through trees or by water
time for journaling in a café you love
movement that reconnects you with your body
a ritual, a card pull, a moment of grace
or simply a day where you slow your pace and let life touch you again
Your soul is always calling you back to yourself.
Sometimes all it needs is a single day of presence to be heard.
May you give yourself that day soon.
With love,
Dawn
